Want to be an Olympic Sailor?

In around 200 days the world’s elite sailors will take to the waters of Weymouth and Portland in the hope of taking home a gold medal.

Now if you fancy becoming an elite sailor it is going to take several years of maximum effort and dedication, and whilst hugely rewarding that may not be the path for you. BUT have no fear!… it is simple with Solent Events to get out on the water just for a day or two where you can experience what it may like to be part of this prestigious sailing event  for yourself!

Based from the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy Solent Events have various options are available on a fleet of F40 yachts; an ideal day for networking, incentives, reward, teambuilding or simply hospitality.

We have 2 resident international sailors who will be on hand to offer encouragement and tips on getting the best from your boats performance and to talk about their own past sailing experiences.

After a morning of familiarisation onboard the yachts a series of races will be organised for the afternoon, after a lovely lunch of course!

Winter Solent Sailing

The days may be getting slightly shorter but you can still get out for some sailing action on the Solent! The luxury yachts we charter have ample indoor seating and the wet weather gear we provide will keep you warm and dry should it rain.

Little Britain Challenge Cup

Cowes Week may be over for another year but there is still plenty of action to look forward to on the Solent…

First held in 1988 The Little Britain Challenge Cup is a sailing regatta for the construction industry. The growth and popularity of the event makes the regatta the biggest in the UK after Cowes week with around 3000 competitors now taking part each year.

Land Sea and Air Events

Are you looking for an exciting adrenaline filled event to top any other corporate event you have organised before….well look no further! Solent Events run Land Sea and Air corporate days all year round. This jam packed day of competitive action starts with a half a day on Rib blasting across the Solent at high speeds visiting various Solent ports to compete treasure hunt challenges. Then, to follow a delish BBQ or buffet lunch, 4×4 and/or country sports activities run alongside helicopter flights for a trip over to the Needles and Solent where the group were riding the waves earlier that day.

It’s time for teambuilding…think Sailing!

Many companies historically hold or participate in events because  they have always done so, or just because they can. Due to the current economic ‘situation’ in this post recession climate it is imperative that businesses hold events that have objectives and outcomes to achieve.

So put yourself in a manager’s shoes (if you are not one already!)… For the year ahead you need your team to clearly and effectively communicate and plan how they are going to achieve their objectives and targets…what better way to encourage and emphasise this than a sailing day out on the Solent.

Sailing is a fantastic natural platform for team development. A yacht is a great leveller for all heirachy from directors down to junior male and female staff, breaking down any barriers that may subconsciously exist. A team will be successful in sailing not from physical strength, but through the ability to plan and communicate a clear process involving all team members.
