2012…Exciting year ahead!

Sailing has an exciting year to come in 2012 with Weymouth and Portland hosting the Olympic Sailing events.

Being right on top of their game, the Olympic venue (Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy) was the first to be finished a mere three years ahead of the games, allowing the local community and athletes to make use of some of the best natural sailing  waters in the UK and world-class facilities.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed the ashore areas for spectators are opened and are welcoming, it would be such a shame to miss it!

Garmin Hamble Winter Series

What beautiful weather on the Solent yesterday for the Garmin Hamble Winter Series! With light breeze of around 10 knots and winter sunshine all classes enjoyed some racing action.

There are 2 more days of racing to go which are on 4th December and 10th December 2011. We will be heading out on the Ribs to see some of the action; come join us!

Winter Solent Sailing

The days may be getting slightly shorter but you can still get out for some sailing action on the Solent! The luxury yachts we charter have ample indoor seating and the wet weather gear we provide will keep you warm and dry should it rain.

Here are a few photos from a group we took out just last week…. this could be you!

New events to the Solent…

The Superyacht Cup Regatta Series is the longest running regatta in Europe and the Mediterranean; now in its 16th year.

New events to the Solent

In 2012 the Super Yacht Cup is hosting a special edition of the event in Cowes to coincide with the 2012 Olympic Games. This will be the first ever Super Yacht Cup regatta in Cowes including a Round the Isle of Wight race, the same route as the first ever America’s Cup in 1851 (then called the Hundred Guinea Cup).

Solent Events can help you get up close to the action by chartering a Rib, sailing yacht, or for the ultimate luxury a power boat. We can organise catering to fit your needs and run from various Solent destinations.  Contact us for more information!

Destination Lymington

This summer Lymington was identified as Britain’s most desirable coastal town, and we at Solent Events  agree 100%! Situated on the edge of the New Forest the beautiful Market town which has 2 marinas and 2 sailing clubs  took first place in a study of the finest seaside resorts according to the Telegraph, coming in above Sandbanks in Poole which came second and Heswall on the Wirral (third).

destination Lymington

The weather was one of the statistics taken in to consideration, including the hours of sunshine and temperature. The weather is generally better than further west on the coast as the town is sheltered by the Isle of Wight. Our sailing days will take guests out in to this area of the Solent and usually stop on the Island for lunch; Cowes is a particular favourite.

destination Lymington

We agree that Lymington is a first class destination and always promote the town as a starting location for our charters. The town has great transport links to and from London as well as fabulous venues for accommodation close by.

Contact us for more details on organising your next sailing event, starting from Lymington… or any other Solent destination!

Sailing Racing Events

Looking for a fresh teambuilding event idea? Need something exciting and action-packed to keep your team happy? Well look no further!

Corporate Sailing Racing events are one of our most popular packages. Perfect for small, medium or large groups sailing racing combines first class hospitality with an interactive competitive day that encourages your team to work together to achieve a common goal.sailing racing events

Following breakfast and a full safety briefing groups will spend the morning familiarising themselves with the yacht they are on, which will be part of a matching fleet. After a delicious 2 course lunch (which can be organised on board or ashore) a series of races will take place filling the afternoon before the yachts return for a pimms reception.

The event is flexible in terms of timings and locations; there are numerous Solent ports we can run the event from including Lymington, Southampton, Portsmouth, Hamble and Cowes.
