Solent Events Open Day

Events Showcase

The beautiful Yarmouth Harbour on the Isle of Wight was the backdrop for our ‘Land and Sea Showcase Open Day’ last Thursday.

Along with our sister companies Solent Rib Charter and The Teambuilding Company, this promotional event hosted over 100 invited guests in Yarmouth from events agencies and private companies to see what we can offer for corporate hospitality, team building and staff rewards.

Following breakfast at the Haven Bistro in Lymington, some fifteen large Ribs owned by Solent Rib Charter descended upon the harbour mid-morning to set their guests ashore to view a wide range of yachts and luxury powerboats available for charter.

75 foot luxury classic motor yacht ‘Seafin’ acted as mother-ship to the fleet serving Gin cocktails from the newly appointed sponsor of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, Chilgrove Gin. Brand owner Christopher Beaumont-Hutchings mixed classic G&Ts along with a soon to be introduced ‘Bright and Breezy’ containing their super premium Gin, fresh lime, bitters and Fentimans ginger beer. These delights were accompanied by heavenly little cupcakes locally produced from Miss Dotty’s of Cowes.

The Teambuilding Company then escorted the guests to the Green across from the harbour to experience a selection of the company’s land based activities. From Laser Clay shooting and off-road Segways to human football and their Crystal Challenge. A relaxing lunch at the newly refurbished George Hotel followed with the opportunity to view other land based activities including IPad movie making and more teambuilding challenge activities. A business card raffle took place after lunch with prizes donated by Hampshire Hotels Chewton Glen Hotel, Rhinefield House Hotel and Spa, Carey’s Manor & Senspa, Grand Harbour Hotel and by Solent Rib Charter and the Teambuilding Company.

Harbour Master, Tim Adams commented “Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the Solent Events Showcase day and welcome these kind of events to the Harbour. These events benefit the harbour and local business and we hope to see them back in the future” “

Island resident, Simon Hedley of Solent Events commented “Having lived and sailed in Cowes all of my life, I try to incorporate our beautiful Island and its natural and commercial treasures into our events wherever possible. We are very lucky to have so many great venues and such stunning surroundings that really compliment what we do. An event like this Showcase day is very important so that we can illustrate how easy it is to get to the South Coast to run these events and in turn the Island economy benefits from future bookings”
